Kensington Dollshouse Festival

We have had such a busy and fantasic show last weekend and hope you did too!! A big thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years, we wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for you.

Have we really done thirty years of festivals? How time flies when that path we chose in life is a pleasure to follow!

Little has changed over the years except perhaps communications. Back in the ‘old days’ we didn’t have instant access to the world via the internet etc. and many new exciting materials and gadgets have opened up a world of possibilities for makers.

How thrilled we were to be invited to attend the first London Dollshouse Festival. We worried how our work would be received even though collectors had shown an interest in that things we made. That weekend turned out to be a massive success for us, our London Dollshouse Festival journey had begun and we have never looked back!

So here we are thirty years later bursting with new ideas and projects with still never enough hours in the day.

Paul is still using his ancient old machinery and tools to produce his copper and tin work. He potters off to his untidy workshop every morning around 6am, spending hours with only his music and a few mice for company. He has a vendetta against the mice as they have a tendency to carry off his tiny saucepans. The first time he discovered missing items was about a week before a London Festival. He was frantic – of course his story wasn't believed and he never discovered the saucepans. But he realised he wasn't going insane when the pest controller assured him that certain mice have a habit of collecting objects and stashing them away. He had to work extra hard to replace the saucepans and now makes sure they are not left on the work bench overnight! Thank goodness they didn't manage to carry off a cooking range!

I work mostly in the evening, it’s quiet then so I disappear into my little fantasy world without distractions.

Over the years some familiar faces have gone but they are not forgotten. Lots of new ones have come into our lives and we remain grateful to everyone for that support we have received over the years.

One thing remains constant- The look of pure joy on the faces of collectors when they discover that special something. We haven’t a clue how long we will be able to carry on, but know for sure this marvelous magical festival is in safe hands and will still be enchanting dollshouse collectors in another thirty years and beyond.
